This year marks the 75th observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

On Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 12pm CDT the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) will host a virtual event to celebrate both of these milestones. 

This WebEX will feature guest speakers on the topics from the BLS Occupational Requirements Program and Texas Workforce Solutions Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

Increasing Access and Opportunity

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October originates back to the return of solders with disabilities from World War II, raising public attention of people with disabilities in the workplace. This year’s NDEAM virtual event conducted via WebEX features the theme of Increasing Access and Opportunity and is hosted by the BLS offices in Dallas, TX.

Come by and help us to celebrate the immeasurable contributions that Americans with disabilities make to our workforce with these guest speakers:

Dr. Kristen Monaco, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Associate Commissioner for the Office of Compensation and Working Conditions, will be presenting ‘How Occupational Requirements Survey (ORS) data can be used to match workers with jobs

Ms. Jennifer Svelan, Texas Workforce Solutions, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, will provide an ‘Overview of Vocational Rehabilitation Services available from Texas Workforce Solutions programs’.
